Technology Longridge
Technology has become a huge part of our daily lives and if you want to keep up with what's new, read on. The following articles will tell you all about how to be savvy so you can keep up with the rapidly changing world of technology.
Data Storage Longridge
For any organisation large or small, data store is very important. Data can be stored on site, but what happens if someone breaks or if there is a fire? Your important data will be lost. This is where offsite data storage facilities come into the picture. They provide efficient data storage and data protection to make sure all your important information is secure. Data is usually stores on external hard drives to make sure they are free from any interference. Data can be store offsite daily or at the end of the week. See below to locate Data Storage around Longridge.
Zalman Reserator 1 Plus Longridge
While the Reserator 1 Plus passed the Athlon 64 cooling test, it struggles to cool an overclocked Pentium 4e, so if you plan to seriously overclock then you'll need to buy a water-cooling system with an actively cooled radiator. But if you don't intend to overclock or leave your PC running 24/7, then the Reserator 1 Plus is definitely worth considering.
XFX GeForce 6600 GT Longridge
Since this XFX card has pre-overclocked memory it's noticeably faster than most 6600 GTs, and so its sub-£150 pricing makes it excellent value for money. It's also ludicrously overclockable, even more so than the turbo-charged Gainward. If XFX could only design a more pleasant sounding HSF, this card would be almost perfect.
ViewSonic VX724 Longridge
The controls are a little elementary, with old-school colour temperature settings instead of new-fangled viewing modes, but the VX724 is still a pleasure to use. We can even forgive the lack of a height-adjustable stand in view of the fact that it sits at a very comfortable height already, with a fine range of tilt options.
TFT Monitors Longridge
Modern TFTs are so good that it's even worth ditching a first-generation TFT - complete with ugly, thick bezel, poor contrast and slow 25ms or more response time - in favour of something faster, bigger, better or just more stylish.
All Topics
Abit AG8-V Longridge
The AG8-V is generally well laid out. The single EIDE port is at a 90-degree angle to the edge of the PCB, which aids neat cabling. The 20-pin ATX power connector is also positioned at the edge of the board.
Abit NV8 Longridge
The NV8 sports three PCI slots and three 1x PCI-E slots in addition to the 16x PCI-E graphics slot. There are also two EIDE ports, the obligatory floppy drive port and four S-ATA ports, all of which support RAID, but aren't S-ATA II-compatible.
Analog Signature Series Longridge
The Analog Signature Series has much to recommend it. Once you move beyond simple preset surfing and devote time to working more closely with them, all three plug-ins can add considerable style and presence - not to mention sonic coloration - to individual tracks or final mixes.
Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP500PGB Longridge
The SmartPower is generally very stable, although its 12V2 rail is extremely weak. At 100 per cent load, it dropped to a mere 11V, well below the 11.4V required by the ATX spec. As 12V2 is used to power the CPU, this is could lead to system instability or shutdown.
Asetek WaterChill 03-L-5712 Longridge
Just like the single-radiator Asetek kit available in Longridge, the 03-L-5012, this kit includes a separate pump and reservoir, which are connected by 10mm ID tubing. There's also a controller that changes the fan's input voltage to either 7V or 12V.
Aspire X-Navigator Longridge
As the X-Navigator available in Longridge is so tall (just over 500mm), there's lots of room inside for drives - 13 to be precise. Four of these are 5.25in bays, and there are two external 3.5in bays and seven internal 3.5in bays. All of the latter are clustered together in three removable caddies, which makes installing drives very easy.
Asus DRW-1608P Longridge
At £54 the Asus is a real bargain considering its performance, media support, and the software and accessories bundle. It's the first dual-layer drive that combines excellent burning speed across all types of media. For the money, nothing else can catch it.
Asus Extreme AX800XL/2DTV Longridge
So does the Asus AX800XL hit its target, the GeForce 6800 GT? And does it have enough power to take its rival down? It's very close, and at the most exacting detail and resolution settings, the AX800XL is fast, but a fair bit slower than GeForce 6800 GT cards. The AX800XL's saving grace is that it's by no means sluggish for the money, although more generic X800XL cards will probably be cheaper than most GeForce 6800 GT cards. Its attractive price makes it an interesting proposition, as does the fact that it's significantly quieter than its Nvidia rival.
Asus Extreme N6600GT/TD Longridge
The Asus is one of the quickest GeForce 6600 GT cards around, but it's also particularly noisy and doesn't have any distinguishing features to make it stand out from the crowd, other than its raw speed. It's still pretty good value for money.
Asus Extreme N7800GT DUAL Longridge
The N7800GT DUAL sports two GeForce 7800 GT GPUs on its PCB, so you don't have to mess around with two separate graphics cards. Admittedly, the N7800GT DUAL isn't quiet, but it's a good deal less noisy than two 7800 GT cards fitted with Nvidia reference HSFs.
Asus Extreme N7800GT/2DHTV Longridge
The dual DVI and SLI connection are as expected, and the card has ViVo and supports HDTV output too. However, this is all stuff that we're accustomed to seeing on graphics cards these days and, in terms of the important features, the Asus is the same as every other GeForce 7800 GT.
Asus UX30 Longridge
Slip the UX30 available in Longridge from its packaging and the first pleasant surprise is the absence of a black, glossy lid. More and more manufacturers are adopting the glossy design cliche, but while it looks good box-fresh, it soon loses its lustre thanks to grubby fingers.
Athlon 64 FX Longridge
If an unlocked multiplier and enough megaflops to make a small supercomputer jealous is what you're after, then an Athlon 64 FX is the answer. Why is that? Read on for more information and you'll see.
ATi Radeon HD 2000 Longridge
Nvidia's six-month reign as sole supplier of DirectX 10 graphics hardware comes to an end this month, as ATi (now owned by AMD) launches its long-awaited Radeon HD 2000 series. The range includes chips for both desktops and notebooks, all of which feature dedicated hardware for decoding HD content, plus a range of measures to reduce power consumption.
ATI Radeon HD 4730 Longridge
The HD 4730 available on the market in Longridge has an enticing list of specifications for a supposed mid-range release. The core clock speed of 750MHz is higher than both the HD 4830 and HD 4850 and is equal to the HD 4870. Its 512MB of memory may be clocked at the same level as the HD 4830 - 900MHz - but it's GDDR5 RAM, better than the GDDR3 memory used in the older card.
Backing Up your Files Longridge
Really, there's no excuse these days. External hard drives are pitifully cheap, online backup services are free, and Windows Vista even has a half-decent backup utility built in. Yet most of us will still lose files because of malware attacks, thoughtless deletion, hard-disk failure or some other PC-ravaging catastrophe.
Belkin TuneTalk Stereo Longridge
The Belkin TuneTalk Stereo is a clever gizmo that converts a 5G iPod into a high-quality recording device. It neatly plugs into the Dock connector, adding roughly an inch to the overall length of the unit.
BenQ Joybee GP1 Longridge
For the picture quality and the inclusion of that USB port and speaker we're willing to pay the premium. The BenQ Joybee GP1 has its flaws but it's the best pico-projector in Longridge yet.
BenQ PF93V Longridge
The PF93V is a good screen for standard PC use, especially if you like the crisp white styling or have a Mac mini. Given its lack of flexibility elsewhere though, it's worth saving some money and buying something less flashy.
BFG GeForce 6600 GT OC Longridge
If this BFG graphics card has been named after the famous gun from Doom 3 then it isn't particularly appropriate. While the BFG was a giant energy-sapping brute that always seemed to take half a second longer to charge up than a Cyberdemon took to rip off your head, this BFG is a small, efficient card. It won't get you into the Phobos lab alive but at least when the forces of hell run riot, they'll find the world a smoothly animated place running at a moderately high resolution.
Boston Igloo B2200 Longridge
The Igloo is an impressively solid and straightforward system; the price above is for the chassis configured with 4GB of 667MHz RAM, a pair of 2346HE Barcelona processors and a trio of Seagate NS-series 750GB drives. Coming in at under £3,000, the system will be a prime candidate for SMBs looking to tread the virtualisation route and consolidate ageing servers.
Buying a PC Longridge
Pop into any PC shop, and you'll find yourself instantly assailed by sales signs shouting about megahertz, gigahertz, 'PC Power' and 'raw computing speed'. The moment you see these Technicolor billboards, you'll probably get a sinking feeling in your stomach.
Canon EOS 500D with 18-55mm Lens Longridge
Reviewing shots on the high-resolution screen was a pleasure, and the HDMI output is available for live view previews as well as playback. Shots at ISO 3200 looked excellent, and the 6400 and 12800 settings proved useful for more casual photography in very low light in Longridge.
ColorVision PrintFix Pro Suite Longridge
The problem you have with your colour printer or proofer is that it hasn't been profiled, so you can't really trust its output to be all that accurate. What you need is a way to create a profile that can be used whenever you print, and ColorVision has just the product for you in PrintFix Pro 2.0.
Connect3D Radeon X1800XL Longridge
As well as being efficient, the new memory controller's design allows the card to have higher-clocked memory. The flagship Radeon X1800XT runs its memory at 750MHz (1.5GHz effective), although the X1800XL gets more modest 490MHz (980MHz effective) modules.
Cooler Master Aquagate Mini R80 Longridge
Although the Aquagate Mini R80 is very easy to install, its cooling abilities at a tolerable fan speed setting leave a lot to be desired. As it couldn't even cope with cooling our Pentium 4e test rig, the universal mounting mechanism for the CPU waterblock is really rather pointless too.
Cooler Master Praetorian 730 Longridge
The Praetorian certainly looks imposing; it has a hefty, triple-plate front door that opens to reveal a ventilated mesh front fascia. As the door is composed of three separate sections, air can flow through it even when it's closed.
Cooler Master Stacker 810 Longridge
By adding an extra 120mm fan mount, Cooler Master has turned the Stacker into an air-cooled monster. However, the second PSU bay has also gone; we liked this feature, as the extra space was handy for a water-cooling kit.
Corsair Cool Longridge
While the Cool might seem expensive compared with multiblock systems, such as the Cool River Deluxe, its performance is in a totally different league. Cooling to 25ûC below the reference AMD HSF is unparalleled, and the kit is also easy to install. The inclusion of the RadBox means it can be mounted on a case with 80mm, 92mm or 120mm fan mounts, while the Coolsleeves prevent the tubing collapsing in on itself. If you're looking for high-performance Athlon 64 cooling then the Cool is the kit to buy.
Corsair Cool Longridge
Once the kit is fully set up, it's very quiet and provides excellent cooling. Not surprisingly, the kit performs identically to the Swiftech, cooling to 18ûC below the reference AMD HSF. And although it's a little cheaper than the Swiftech, its awkward reservoir and lack of printed manual mean the Asetek and Swiftech kits are better choices on the market in Longridge.
Creative I-Trigue 5600 Longridge
The I-Trigue 5600 is convenient to use. There's no infrared remote, but a wired remote brings volume control to your fingertips, allowing you to turn off the speakers without having to scrabble around under your desk.
Creative Zen Vision Longridge
The fact that no one seems to knows whether portable video players are a gadget that anyone actually wants isn't stopping manufacturers from releasing them.
CreativeI-Trigue 5600 Longridge
There isn't really enough power to fill a large room but for a back bedroom, study or small flat, this system has more volume than you'll probably need. The I-Trigues lack a range of inputs, and it's also true that they're fairly expensive for 5.1 speakers, particularly with great 7.1 systems such as Creative's own Inspire T7900s available at almost half the cost. However, if style and size is important to you, then the price is worth paying.
CTX F773 Longridge
In Digital mode, you can access volume, brightness and contrast settings, plus an ineffectual 'image smoothing' control and a selection of preset colour modes. The Cinema setting creates a more vivid image with particularly strong blues, while Sport offers a lighter, less punchy variation.
CTX P972L Longridge
The P972L's big concept is '3E Concern' or ergonomics, energy savings and ecological awareness. All very worthy, but it's also a clear sign that this TFT is aimed at the corporate market rather than the PC enthusiast.
ECS Pa1 Mvp Extreme Longridge
In terms of layout, the big surprise is that the PA1 MVP is actually an LGA775 board, rather than the more 'enthusiast-friendly' Socket 939. The two long, high-speed 8x PCI-E slots dominate the PCB and are accompanied by two 1x PCI-E slots.
Elgato EyeTV 250 Longridge
Elgato's original EyeTV 250 included an analogue TV receiver and the ability to record from composite and S-Video sources, such as an analogue camera or VHS player.
Enermax Venus Longridge
The poor airflow and weedy PSU means it's not suitable as a small, stylish chassis for a high-end PC. However it might be just the job for that overclocked Pentium M PVR or LAN gaming rig you've been promising yourself.
Epson EMP-S4 Longridge
The Epson EMP-S4's crisp 800 x 600 resolution and bright colours are great for presentations, but it's not a suitable choice for gaming or home cinema. Its array of inputs is woefully limited and its contrast is poor.
